Hats off to Joey Chestnut, the competitive-eating champ who just set a new record by eating 69 Nathan’s hot dogs in 10 minutes. Dayum, New York has not seen a man put that much meat in his mouth since… wait, did they have their Pride Parade last weekend, too? ;)
According to Bleacher Report, Chestnut consumed “20,010 calories, 1,173 g of fat, 48,990 mg of sodium, 759 g of protein” all in one sitting. So that’s like, what, 2 or 3 KFC Double Downs?
According to this ESPN info-graphic, the seven-time Nathan’s champ is in some pretty elite company. The only other athletes to win the same event seven or more times? Richard Petty, Tiger Woods and Martina Navratilova. Of course, some people say competitive eating’s not a real sport, but I’m pretty sure Chestnut could eat all of the aforementioned athletes under the table!
